Participants work together to produce a collaborative work of art. The workshop can also involve the wider community in an art project. This workshop is effective on its own or as a conclusion to Inside Out.
Janet received a Fulbright Senior Specialist Award and successfully presented the two workshops at the First Floor Gallery as a combined 6 week program for young professional visual artists in Harare, Zimbabwe in November 2012.
The collaborative project resulted in the exhibition, Harare Haarare. The following is from the press release from the exhibition: This is the city that never sleeps in the eyes, the ideas and the dreams of the artists in Harare Haarare. Working togethe, the talented young generation of Hararean artists created a version of their city today with eyes wide open to its colors, challenges, joys and ironies. Their work in the exhibition speaks of their hopes, aspirations and pains to build a powerful symphony of zimbabwean urban life. these artists are neither naively optimistic nor cynically pessimistic, their vision of here and now is also a foundation for a better tomorrow – reaching out to challenge the accepted status quo, to jion in with the efforts to build, to create and to achieve a Zimbabwe of their dreams. — Valerie Kabov
